Al-Qaida chemical expert killed?

Midhat Mursi al-Sayid Umar, shown in a wanted poster in Islamabad, was killed by missiles fired from an unmanned U.S. Predator aircraft, according to unconfirmed reports.
Missiles hit a building in a Pakistani village on the border with Afghanistan on Monday, and intelligence officials said they were investigating reports that a senior al-Qaida figure was among six people killed.

Afghan official: U.S. strike hit wedding party

US-led coalition air strikes killed several militants on July 6 in mountainous eastern Afghanistan, the force said, but a local doctor said at least eight women and children were wounded. Afghan authorities said they were investigating claims that a wedding party was hit and many civilians killed or hurt in the strike in a remote area in the Safed Koh (White Mountains) on the border with Pakistan. At least 41 killed in Kabul blast

Afghan officials: U.S. missiles killed civilians

An injured Afghan boy is put on a stretcher at a hospital in Jalalabad city, Afghanistan, Sunday, July 6, 2008 after he allegedly got injured by U.S.-led coalition airstrikes in Deh Bala district of Nangarhar province, east of Kabul. Chief government official Haji Amishah Gul in the Deh Bala district says villagers have reported between 30 and 35 people walking in a group toward a wedding have been killed in a coalition bombing. Up to 10 people were wounded. Afghan officials said fighter aircraft battling militants accidentally killed up to 27 Afghans walking to a wedding ceremony in eastern Afghanistan early Sunday, the second military attack in three days with reports of civilian deaths.

Swords, bombs seized inside Afghan prison

Afghan security forces found more than 100 knives and swords, gasoline bombs and dozens of cell phones in a search of Kabul’s main prison, the country’s Defense Ministry said Saturday.

U.S. air raids hit vehicles in Afghanistan

The U.S. military said airstrikes by its attack helicopters hit two vehicles carrying insurgents Friday in eastern Afghanistan. Afghan officials said civilians were traveling in the vehicles.
