Hi, I’m Nine, and I used to be a Republican and a Catholic. Now I’m an American. LOC isn’t so much of a statement about my political leanings as it is about how much of a wierdo I can be. Read more...

While those who like to claim that the US broadband market is more competitive than it really is like to point to the rise of 3G wireless networks as proof, they almost always ignore the fact that those 3G networks come with insanely restrictive terms of service, that allow the providers to cut users off for almost any activity outside of email.
AT&T iPhone users will not be getting free Wi-Fi access after all.For the second time in less than six months, AT&T mistakenly published a notice on its Web site indicating that Apple iPhone users would get free access to the wireless operator’s more than 17,000
OK, I played with an iPhone today. Mini Minmei at work got her hands on one, and she plopped down next to me and says “Geek Thyself.”
After I cleaned up, I sunk into this thing.
First things first, I can’t type on this thing with my thumbs. It’s just not happening. The auto correct is remarkably intelligent, though. (Now, if only I could teach it to suggest DUMBASS for every time I wrote Nine…that would be amazing.)
LOC on the iPhone looks freakin’ awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by that. I hadn’t played with a 3G phone before, and I was very surprised by the speed.
I may have to give in. The only thing that kills me is the monthly package. 50 dollars a month for data and SMS, before you get to the voice. Hmm. That’s got me thinking hard. If I go to do this, it’s for both Kim and I. So, 2 iPhones on a family plan? 50*2+69.99 for 700 min plan.
Actually, that’s only 40 dollars more than what I’m doing right now for 3 phones (and one of those is because I’m a nice guy.), and 1000 FamilyTime Mins on TMo. But, I have unlimited Data and Tethering on my Dash, and Unlimited Texting on all three. If I have the iPhone, Is tethering even necessary?
Hmm. Maybe I should call Capt. Kevman at the Zen Store and see if they have any left. LOL.
So, the TechTards are about to get their panties in a Gordian Knot Again. Why?
CrunchGear is noting a conversation that “Steve” had with Apple CSR’s. Apparently, you are not going to be able to buy an iPhone online. Nor are you activating it through iTunes like you did ZenPhone 1.0. You want an iPhone? Great. Take your ass to an Apple Store, or an AT&T store, and you’re walking out of there with your phone. Oh, and an AT&T Contract. What? You don’t want AT&T? Then you must not want an iPhone. So Sorry, Mind the door/ass interface.
WAAAAAAAAAH, the TechTards say, but I want to hack my iPhone so I can use it on MY service!
Boo Fucking Hoo, AT&T says. Apple gave the phone to us. It’s OUR Phone. You will use OUR service, or you will not use OUR Phone. OKTHXBYE.
Won’t stop the TechTards from having a stroke, though. I envision someone trying to jailbreak it anyway. AT&T ought to put a notice out. If you jailbreak the phone, we will terminate your service, send you a MASSIVE early termination bill, and blacklist you with other cell phone carriers until you make good.
What the hell is wrong with AT&T trying to make a little money with this phone? If you don’t like AT&T, then DONT BUY THE IPHONE. How simple is that?
But it’s the bestest phone ever! WAAAAAAAH.
Well, sucks to be you, doesn’t it? Shut up.
