Arctic park closes due to heat, floods

A major national park in Canada’s Arctic has been largely closed after record high temperatures caused flooding that washed away hiking trails and forced the evacuation of tourists.

Strong quake shakes Japan
Saturday, July 19th, 2008A strong earthquake with a preliminary 6.6 magnitude struck off of Japan’s eastern coast Saturday, the country’s meteorological agency said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
