Hi, I’m Nine, and I used to be a Republican and a Catholic. Now I’m an American. LOC isn’t so much of a statement about my political leanings as it is about how much of a wierdo I can be. Read more...

Algernon, the delegate from Pungo?
We got Ithiaca on the phone for a chat this morning.
Well folks, we are now past day 2 and moving on to day 3 of what will become one of this Nation’s greatest National Conventions. Truly we wait on history, with two days down and two more to go until Barrack Obama gives his acceptance speech at Invesco Field at Mile High. There is excitement, apprehension; a feeling of something momentous is going to happen. Let us recap what has happened to date so far. Starting with the Democrats themselves, then with the local scene on Sunday we had the gathering of all the people including Michelle Obama her children and Senator Hillary Clinton all arriving at DIA, we also had the gathering throng of protestors.
The first day and night of this event was breathtaking and spectacular the speeches given on Monday night by both Senator Ted Kennedy and then Michelle Obama where moving, powerful and full of hope. They have a conviction, not some idle speculation that they may win this election. They know it; they feel it and taste it. There is a feeling of euphoria in the air that this time they have it right. I am inclined to agree with them, even the protestors who have been trying to muster something out here are failing to achieve anything as they have been ignored or even tolerated by most Denverites. When they attempted to hold an unofficial protest march and it got shut down by the Denver Police so fast (this during the Rush Hour home) and even now they are trying to muster some sympathy and not getting any.
Tonight’s speech by Hillary Clinton was another case in point of this euphoria I spoke of, my friend the Nine made the comment that her speech would not be groundbreaking or exciting to say the least. I begged to differ, her speech was anything but. She moved and wowed the audience, yes she did say things that were expected of her but they were said with feeling, emotion, grace that at least she has accepted the fact that she is not destined for 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue at this time. Denver waits in expectation for Thursday we wait for Barack Obama speech at Invesco Field truly we live in great times.
Ithiaca sends this dispatch from one of his friends, a “furry”, who had the chance to be Downtown:
Hello everyone, the urban fennec went to downtown yet again, and was able to be in the crowd at the train station infornt of MSNBC’s both were (various “well know”) anchors were there talking about stuff from Michelle’s speech to obama/mcCain to hilarys speech, it was interesting to watch a CNN like thing live, and manage to be on tv for about 7 seconds maybe. Also in suprise the Rockies’ Mascot was there (I haz photos too) so yea, somewhat of a furry has made an appearnce, aside from the little protest and weird people walking around plus the countless number of police scanning the area. So after walking around a bit i went back to said booth and caught the last half of hilarys speech live on tv.Afterwards between wazee and maket and the Jet Hotel was a cricket van, beside it had a live DJ spinning some kickass techno, there were little people dancing and breakdancing, after staying there for about half an hour I could help but laugh inside as people in business suits just walk past all the blaring techno music and weird people dancing strange, and OMG were the free mall shuttles crowded with people coming back from the pepsi center, alot of them carrying various canidate signs like obama and hilary, but yes I have never seen 16st so packed and filled with cops and stange people (like this groups dressed up as the ghostbusters walking around with a sign)
More information as we’re able to get it. Thanks to Ithiaca and friends for sending us this stuff!
So, what do Denver’s EMT’s do in a life threatening emergency when the crowds are too thick to get vehicles in?
Well folks we are still here, alive and well in Denver. Last night around 6ish some of the protestors started to get frisky with Denver’s finest. Needless to say, they found out that Denver’s finest know how to deal with crowd control. I mean after two (2) Super Bowl championships and One (1) Stanley Cup we know Riots here in Denver. The protestors are turning out to be the biggest joke here at the DNC. The protestors and police clashed yesterday at approximately 15th and Court, with the police employing elementary tactics the protestors were stopped with little or no property damage.
Michelle Obama’s speech stirred and roused the Democratic convention last night, as did Senator Ted Kennedy’s speech in which both gave impassioned speeches about the good Obama can do for the Nation. The speech of Obama’s wife was filled with items on family unity, values. The Republican Party’s war room is waiting still and monitoring events 24/7 along with the every growing Political advertisements. Denver has weathered the convention well so far, even with arrest of the “Meth head” hitmen whom the Aurora Police managed to collect. We seem to be doing well, and we hope to see a clean sail to thursday night and Obama’s acceptance speech.
