America the Beautiful

Wednesday, November 5th, 2008

Okay, now that the hoopla and hype is over. Maybe we can get back to the business at hand of keeping our Nation strong in the World. Folks like many of you, I am very glad that the last bit of Glass ceiling has been broken in this our world. Their now is no more excuses for people to claim that ‘The Man’ is keeping me down. Not when the Man is truly an American (allow me to define this). By being an American it does not mean that one needs to wear a lapel of an American flag on his jacket, that one has to be one specific skin color and/ religious belief. An American is someone who was born in this country or in one of her many territories, one who believes in the concepts of Freedom and Liberty ( I know President-Elect Obamas stances are somewhat biased on some of those concepts).

We proved last night that once again, someone from a modest back ground in this case a single parent home, raised by his grandparents, went to some major universities on scholarships, worked hard and saved his money. Then ran for office not just the highest office of the land, but first as a city councilman, a civics leader then Senator and now President can win. Now some of you who know me, know how I voted. My vote was based on many factors. I pray to the Divine for President-Elect Obama that he has a successful four (4) years as our President. I pray that he can do the things he thinks he can do.

Last night we did witness a Reaganesque win for the Democrats, I wish them well. Now that we have given them the Rope will they use it Rightly or will they hand themselves with it. Only the next four years will tell.

What were we thinking???

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I mean seriously, what were we thinking? To have a State uphold its own laws and allow for fair registration for the political parties. But alas I guess for the Republicans and the Deomcrats their is one system and for the rest of us their is another. As some of you may already know and some may not allow me to re-cap for you. The State of Texas has a Deadline for any Political party to get their nominee’s on to the election ballot for the Office of President and Vice-President of the United States. This law is to apply to all Parties, it states that a political party has up until 70days of the Election to get the names in or else no name on ballot (now that is simplyfying things).

That date was 25th of Aug this year for our 2008 election, both the Republican and Democratic Parties missed this date, sure they made some obscure intent to file with the names later on. INTENT TO FILE are you kidding me, excuse me but if any other Political Party tried that the State Secretary would have thrown their application out with the baby and the bathwater all at once. What makes matters even worse the Texas Supreme Court in an earlier court ruling stated that no political party nor candidate can hold up this process nor delay it. However when asked by the Libertarian party to stay not only the ballots but also to have the candidates names from the Republican and Democratic parties removed from the ballot.

The Texas Supremes said NO and made no comment about this ruling. NO COMMENT!!!!!! What the????? This ladies and gentlemen is out right fraud, and shows that both the Republican and Democratic campaigns are not about change at all. They just want them to stay the same. There are some in the Independant parties who wish to take this to the U.S. Supreme Court, I am all for that. It may not make a dent in this election, but hey hell it is worth the shot.

However I prefer a different approach, Folks it is about time for some real change in our country. It is time we moved away from two dying and decrepited parties who are in so tightly with their Big Business, Lobbyist, Special Interest Cronies that they cannot see the forrest through the trees. It is time for a voter revolution it is time to end the hypocrisy and the stupidity of the Deomcratic and Republican parties. Both now who seem to be saying the same message of Bigger Goverment, More for Special Interest, Spend, Spend, Spend and somehow tax the Rich while doing, meanwhile the Rich have all their money floating in an offshore account that the IRS cannot touch.

Folks this must end, Now. Not some future time, not some time way out there over the horizon. It must end now. It is time for us the American people to vote and vote rightly. We must vote to save our way of life, our pursuit of Happiness, and our liberites. Come Nov 4th Vote for a Third party Candidate, Say in your Own Voice No Way, No How, No McBAMA. Cause Folks the Demopublican Parties are our Bridges to NoWhere if we continue to vote for them.

Texas AG Politicizing Ballot Theft

Friday, September 19th, 2008

In a turn of events yesterday afternoon the Texas courts rejected an Emergency stay of Ballots which held the names of the Republican and Democratic Party members for President and Vice-President. The Texas Attorney General instead of arguing on the merits of the case choose instead to wave the flag of patriotism in stating that “Undeniably the Constitution of the United States protects the right of all qualified citizens to vote.”  In that spirit, the State of Texas opposes any threat to the rights of military service members to receive, case, and return ballots from abroad.  The Motion for Emergency Stay filed by Realtors Bob Barr, Wayne Allyn Root, and the Libertarian Party of Texas presents precisely this threat, in asking this Court to stop the mailing of ballots to our men and women in uniform around the globe.  This Court should deny the Motion and protect the constitutional rights of military voters.

Now in this case the Texas AG while being political is absolutely correct in what he is doing. However what he has failed to uphold is the fact that the Republican and Democratic Parties are failing in their part to upheld that the elections are fair also. That is also a Constitutional Right of the People and our Military. By filing late and still being allowed on the ballot when so many other political parties are not even given that chance this also represents a Threat to not only our Military men and women abroad, but also to those of us at home who vote and wish to vote Rightly. Not just for who has the best Photo Op or Attack Ad.

The case against the Republican and Democratic parties by the Libertarian Party is still ongoing and will be fought tooth and nail until it is proven out that what is good for the goose is good for the gander. Level the field folks and wake up, your election is being stolen from under you by smiling politicians and a media mill machine that will only obey its Master’s voice.

Political Widowhood and Sarah Palin

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

I am in hell, people. I absolutely LOATHE things even remotely political. I vote, which is believe should be a goal of every responsible American, but I don’t like politics, politicking or most politicians.  And I firmly believe that who I vote for is none of your business and I don’t  care who you voted for  AS LONG AS YOU VOTED. But in a softhearted moment of insane perversity, I married a political junkie. This means that during election years the conversations tend more towards one of us being enthusiastic about something and the other one of us going uhuh,  sure… which at times can put strains in an otherwise healthy marriage. This year the strain went a little further than usual because of the live coverage of the RNC shindig that the Superfreaks were kind enough to provide us, and the fact that Sarah Palin is now our Republican Vice Presidential wannabe.

So OF COURSE there is a firestorm. the GOP has gotten its head out of the 18th century and is trying to put a woman is as 2nd in command, which I will be abbreviating TWIC. McCain wants to be president. McCain wanted Joe Lieberman to be TWIC, but McCain wanted to be prez MORE, so his advisors had to find someone who wouldn’t alienate what few loyal base people they have left. and Leiberman may be an Indy, but he votes with the Democrats often enough that him in the twic position behind McCain would piss off staunch dyed in the red republicans and a lot of democrats who would either see it as a sell out or some kind of betrayal.

Plus he isn’t handsome enough to get the women vote.

YES, I said that.

Because Biden was right to call the Obama thing a fairy tale and make reference to the clean cut persona and all those comments that the choose your news media people were wagging their fingers about the morning after Biden got nommed for twic. The Democrats in ONE convention had a woman up for PRESIDENT, not just twic. AND a black man. The only base the Democratic party was going to alienate with choices like that were the unrepentant redneck brigade hiding out in a compound someplace with 50 years of supplies and survivalist gear in a bunker in the back yard.

So if you’re a Republican coming off 8 years of quite possibly the worst management record ever, how do you combat that? You cant. Not seriously. But you make your attempt with the closest thing you have. Which, to the Republicans, means to trot out a war hero. Peace Sells, but war heroes get elected. ( We Like Ike) So, you have a war hero, what you need in a twic is something else, someone who pulls in swing votes, or complements the president in some way. Someone who doesn’t mind being second, someone who brings in votes, and someone  IF AT ALL POSSIBLE who will get a lot of coverage by any means possible.

Sarah Palin.

She is a former runner up from a beauty pageant- shes attractive. Photogenic even after 5 kids. Still married to her high school sweetheart. Conservative. Belongs to the NRA.  Pentecostal Christian. Hockey mom. Special needs child. Teenage daughter pregnant ( but getting married)

I’m not crediting McCain with this choice , mmkay? But whoever the fuck came up with this idea may have given the GOP a slim chance over none with this ploy and I hope the Deity of their choice rewards them appropriately.

In the body of one governor from Alaska, we have the following counters to the Obama Biden juggernaut.

Obama has 2 absolutely gorgeous daughters- Palin has Piper AND a baby- and a special needs baby at that. Biden has grown up children and a son going to Iraq- so does Palin. The very fact that Palin is a woman makes all women at least THINK about the possibilities in having a woman twic whether or not they actually vote for her or not. The pissed off PUMA and former rabid Hillary supporters are thinking about it and you KNOW they are, because once they get in that booth they can vent their rabid little spleens all they want and come out and lie about who they voted for. OF COURSE I VOTED DEMOCRAT, see my blue shirt?

For all of you people who are worried about having another wackjob gun toting twic, relax. And while I wont guarantee this, please remember that it was your friendly unpolitical redhead who told 9 over a year ago that it wasn’t right OR fair, but Obama would get the nomination because when it came down to it, at least Obama had some anatomy that Clinton doesn’t- at least physically- metaphorically may still be debatable. In other words, at least a black man is still a man.

ANYONE running as the Republican candidate this year is taking one for the team. Because whoever was supposed to be riding herd on Bush didn’t. Cheney, traditionally should be the guy they’re running, its the reward for being stuck in an undisclosed location for 8 years that every twic looks forward to. You get a huge bump in the coming election if you have VP on your resume. It doesn’t always work ( witness Algore) but its a help.Unless your president was the most unpopular president ever.

But if you have to sacrifice, you don’t do it with your best players. You don’t do it with a Romney or a Huckabee- you don’t want to use any of your first string in a play that’s going to more than likely lose anyway. Anyone running GOP this year is going to be McSame- even if it wasn’t McCain, you can bet the pithy democratic speech team had something similar written up and ready on ALL of them.

So when someone pulled Sarah Palin out of the political haystack, They got a woman to counter the black man. they got someone with a least a little governing and decision making in her resume to run as a counter to the fact the Obama hasn’t even completed one term as a senator, let alone actually RUN anything but a successful campaign. They got a woman who has 5 kids- one in the military, to get that slice of the pie, a teenage daughter who’s pregnant ( to pull on the it could happen to anyone vote) she has a complete show stealer in that youngest daughter, and then the special needs baby and the promise that she would advocate for special needs children to get that segment of the population, plus she is absolutely great for sound bites.they got someone the Democrats were completely unprepared for, which gave them some time they desperately need to play catchup. The media is all over her, for OR against, and pretty much the only thing we’re even hearing about Biden at the moment is a bit of discussion on how he should/shouldn’t handle Palin at the twic debates.

She’s a Republican wet dream- but she’s still cannon fodder. They will get credit for running against the base, they will get credit for running a woman as twic, they will even get all sorts of applause for running someone who middle and poorer Americans can identify with- cause  God knows Hillary may have been a woman but she was a lawyer and she has money and absolutely no clue what its like to deal with some of the decisions the average woman has to deal with weekly.  But that’s what they get by LOSING. And they more than likely will lose, and they know it which is why none of the other candidates are even a little upset about not getting the nod- they don’t want to be tarred with the George Brush, and they’re all still young enough to try in 4 years. McCain knew it was now or never.

And if they win? well, there’s always that undisclosed location. How often did we see Cheney anywhere?
