Google: Great Job. T-Mo, You Fail.
Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008There’s a lot to like about the G1. Really. Additionally, there’s going to BE a lot to like about the G1, once the open source jedis get their mitts on it and write apps.
But T-Mobile just killed the buzz in one sentence:
Data: If your total data usage in any billing cycle is more than 1GB, your data throughput for the remainder of that cycle may be reduced to 50 kbps or less.
Hi, we’re T-Mobile, and we’re upgrading to 3G! YEAH. And this new phone that you’ve been waiting for? It’s 3G! DOUBLE YEAH! It’s gonna be like driving on the Autobahn….
…except, if you go over 100 mph more than ten times in a month, we’ll cut you down to being in the slow lane behind the little old lady in the Caprice Classic with the left turn signal blinking for the last 50 miles.
Seems to me that T-Mo made a bad decision to have a 3g iphone competitor in time for the holidays, but no 3g Network to back it up. But folks that buy this phone are going to want to USE THE TUBES. So, how fast does it take to get 1gb on a 3g phone?

Hi, I’m Nine, and I used to be a Republican and a Catholic. Now I’m an American. LOC isn’t so much of a statement about my political leanings as it is about how much of a wierdo I can be.
