He’s doing a good job of getting out in front of cameras ahead of this storm. He’s also said that he would not be going to the Convention, instead going to Texas to help with the effort from there. Excellent idea. It’s good to see that they’re taking this seriously, and that they appear (at this point, at least), to have learned a few important lessons.

It still won’t keep Kanye’s mouth shut, but hey….

GOP may delay convention if Gustav strikes Gulf Coast - Breaking News from New Orleans - Times-Picayune - NOLA.com.

Frankly, it’s the sane and sensible thing to do.  The Bush Administration screwed the pooch on Katrina, and the Republicans are pretty much guilty by association.   It may not be exactly FAIR to lump the entire lot of them in, but we do. 

If Bush, McCain and company want to show that they’ve learned a lesson?  Make the announcement that the Convention is delayed…from New Orleans.  Bush arrives on the scene with the full resources of the Government deployed and ready to go.  Hell, you might even poke a little fun at the Democrats.  “We don’t WANT this Surge to work”, you might say.  Make sure McCain and Palin are there to help.  Have ‘em sandbagging, pass out MRE’s, care for the Elderly–VERY IMPORTANT!! 

You’ll go into your delayed Convention having done a heckuva job, Bushie.  McCain gets a nice little bounce for his trouble, and all of a sudden it’s a horse race. 

But what do I know?  I’m just a loudmouth who votes.

The guy I work for is a reasonably nice guy, but at this moment I’m questioning his sanity. 

He went on vacation yesterday.  Guess where he’s going?  I just found out. 

New Orleans. 

I ask you, is there a person on this planet that wasn’t aware about the likely path of Gustav prior to Friday?  It was all over the news!  Only Obama got more coverage! 

I hope he’s gonna be ok…
