It’s no longer about issues.  Like any criminal trial, it’s now about reasonable doubt.  The extreme right wing of the Republican Party knows beyond the shadow of the doubt that they are going to lose, unless they can drive enough of a wedge between Obama and what they believe to be The American Way ™

For McCain’s part, I’ve watched a guy that I’ve liked for a lot of years come off the rails.  I simply can’t believe that this great man–and he is a great man in a lot of respects–condones the hatemongering that is going on.  However, he’s unable to stop it even if he wanted to.   There are simply too many idiots out there pledged to help McCain by any possible means, unthinking in their method.  Sadly, their “help” has done more damage to a great man’s reputation.

Case in point, this group of morons, caught on camera by Ben Smith at Politico:

Death rattles can be fun to watch, in the right context. It’s a damn pity you have to ruin the life of a great American in the process.

The really sad thing? These folks think they’re Christians, I’d be willing to bet.

Not by a long shot.

Well all we are a mere three weeks from the next presidential election. Times sure have been exciting we have been in a war on what some would consider multiple fronts; and remember the old adage that only a fool fights a war on two fronts and a madmen fights on three. So what does that say about our current two popular candidates who say we must fight on multiple fronts? Then there is the growing financial worry that both thought that throwing a random amount of Our tax dollars at would cure; and yeah we should mention the assault on our civil liberties that both candidates wish to continue on, with the eavesdropping on honest and hard working Americans just so the wire taps can get a hard on!

Also both of these great Americans want to give people who come to this country with out the appropriate documentation, paperwork etc…etc…etc…citizenship when they did nothing to earn it. Throw in the fact those same people also demand that they be given equal/same rights as a Tax paying American Citizen, but oh yeah they do not want their monies to be Taxed. Crazy right, I mean down right insane! But wait there is more, what if I told you that there is a candidate who does believe in what you and I want. The only thing we have to do is just get him into the White House. Guess what there is, his name is Bob Barr. He is the Libertarian Candidate for the Office of the President of the United States.
He believes as you do, less Government, more Free Market, No Wall Street bailouts (allow the Market to correct itself), No free rides to Illegal Aliens, That the Right to Keep and Bear Arms is for the Average Citizen not the Criminal. That the Department of Defense is for Defense and not Offense, No more being the Police force for the United Nations. A Nation that is dependent on its own Energy and not another Nations. At this moment the Libertarian Party is on the Ballot in forty-six of the fifty states of our Great Nation.
The Libertarian Party with Bob Barr and Wayne Allen Root have a chance of getting the Electoral votes to ascend to the White House. We have watched the debates the two Presidential debates and the singular Vice-Presidential Debates. (Sadly the VP’s looked more animated then the Guys running for President.) Folks both the Presidential candidates sound the same, they hash over the same generalities and banalities that we have heard since the times of Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Thirty-two years folks, thirty-two years we have endured this. It is time for a change; it is time for that so called regime change in Washington. A time to end the 2 party system hypocrisy in which we have been tied up; come November 4th when you step into the poles to vote, remember those debates, remember the bail out, remember the wars.
A Vote for John McCain and Sarah Palin is a Vote for Barrack Obama and Joe Biden. If you want real change in Washington; change you can count on.
Vote Bob Barr and Wayne Allen Root.

McCain Wins Debate - The Fix.

Apparently, there are web ads springing up claiming that McCain has won tonight’s debate, a little less than 9 hours before the debate is scheduled to begin.  Rick Davis is even quoted as saying “John McCain won, hands down.”

So, if you win a debate 9 hours before the start of a debate you wanted to duck in the first place…

No, wait…if a tree falls in the woods, does David Letterman hear it?

No, that’s not right either…

MSNBC confirms that McCain will be attending the debate, despite his stance yesterday that he needed to suspend his campaign, and that he would not attend the debate unless there was a deal.

There is no deal. There’s nothing close to a deal.

What there is, is a tragic error the likes Shakespeare couldn’t dream of writing. Likely McCain has come to that decision himself. No doubt he has also come to the realization that he’s done more damage then good in this situation.

Funny. I’ve been waiting for a stroke inducing temper moment out of Johnnycakes, but the more that I think about it, I think this was the moment the wheels came off the wagon.

McCain camp criticism rife with errors - Ben Smith - Politico.com.

Liars Defense Tactic #1

One McCain aide, Michael Goldfarb, said Politico was “quibbling with ridiculously small details when the basic things are completely right.”

They’re only LITTLE lies, y’see. EVERYBODY tells LITTLE LIES, right?

Not only is that wrong, it’s an insult  Mr. Goldfarb, if I can’t trust you, and by extension the candidate you work for, to tell the truth on the little things, how in the hell can I trust you on the big stuff?

And then there’s tactic #2, the response when you point out to one of these liars that they’re full of it.

Another, Brian Rogers, responded more directly:

“You are in the tank,” he e-mailed.

So, what you’re saying is, folks who like the truth, are in the tank for Obama?

Gladly, pal.  Gladly.
